Upholstery and mattress cleaning in Montreal

A sofa takes in daily what a carpet takes in over a month, concentrated on a few seats: sweat, skin oils, hair-product residue, crumbs, pet hair. A mattress absorbs several hundred millilitres of perspiration a night, and it is that moisture, not dust, that sustains the dust-mite populations behind most household allergies.

In short

Upholstery is cleaned with steam and extraction: the heat lifts the body oils and perspiration absorbed by the fabric, and extraction removes them rather than pushing them deeper. Leather follows a different route — hand brushing, gentle cleaning, then conditioning to prevent cracking. Mattresses are treated on both sides, with a dust-mite option for allergy sufferers.

When should you call?

  • Headrests and armrests have darkened compared with the rest of the piece.
  • The fabric smells musty when you sit down.
  • The leather is dull, dry or starting to crack at the folds.
  • Someone wakes up congested or with irritated eyes.
  • A pet sleeps on the furniture or the bed.
  • The mattress has never been cleaned since it was bought.

How we work

Identifying the covering

Fabric, microfibre, velvet, linen, full-grain or corrected leather: each has its own method and product. A test is done on a hidden area before the visible surface is treated.

Dry removal and pre-treatment

Hair, crumbs and dry soil are removed first, then contact areas — headrests, armrests, seats — get a targeted pre-treatment.

Steam and extraction

Steam lifts body oils absorbed into the fibre, extraction removes them. Moisture is controlled so the piece dries quickly and keeps no smell.

Leather: brushing and conditioning

Leather is hand-brushed, gently cleaned, then fed with a conditioner. This is the step that prevents cracking — leather cleaned without being conditioned dries out and splits.

Frequently asked questions

How long before the furniture can be used again?

A few hours in general, depending on the fabric, the padding thickness and the room’s ventilation. Moisture is deliberately kept low to shorten this: a piece left damp is a smell that comes back.

Does cleaning damage leather?

Not when done properly. The risk comes from cleaning without conditioning: the leather is stripped, dries and cracks at the folds. That is why conditioning is part of the treatment, not an add-on.

Does the dust-mite treatment actually work?

It reduces the mite population and the allergens it leaves in the mattress. It does not replace the other measures — allergen covers, hot-water bedding washes, bedroom humidity control. We will not sell you a single fix for a problem that needs several.
